Biography

Kathleen's artistic journey began in the vibrant backdrop of her hometown, Kansas City, Kansas, where she was first inspired by her two uncles, both professional artists. After moving to the picturesque Missouri Ozarks in the 1980s, she pursued higher education at Drury University and Missouri State University, ultimately earning a Master of Science degree in nursing. Kathleen dedicated herself to pediatric healthcare for many years, serving as a nurse practitioner until her retirement in 2015. Following her retirement, she rekindled her passion for the visual arts, starting her painting journey in her home garage. The "Gessoed Garage" has evolved into her personal studio, where Kathleen continues to create and explore her love for painting, blending her artistic talent with the lessons learned throughout her diverse career and the beauty of the surrounding Ozark region.

The phrase "art is a journey" truly resonates with me as an artist. Each time I approach a canvas or a sheet of watercolor paper, I feel like an explorer embarking on an adventure. The thrill lies in where creativity may take me and what surprises await along the way. I find myself captivated by light and the manner in which it transforms the subject matter, revealing layers and depths I had not anticipated. This exploration brings me immense joy, reminding me that the pursuit of art is not just about the destination, but the discoveries made along the way.
